While you were weighing the benefits of buying a bicycle in anticipation of paying $5 per gallon for gas, Mariah Carey and the child she just married were busy hauling her 17-carat diamond wedding ring to Six Flags Magic Mountain in a Rolls Royce Tuesday night.

The couple rented the park for five hours, a move that set them back six figures, according to People magazine. Earlier in the day, Nick Cannon was seen at the Hello Kitty store shopping for his new bride.

In unrelated news, children in Burma Myanmar are still sitting in the streets, hoping to score a handful of rice as they wait for a second major storm to hit their cyclone-ravaged country.

don't go soft on us h-mac. stick with shittalk (is that a mushroom type) on celebs. i don't want to feel guilty with the contrast of our american excess and the abject poverty the rest of the world is in.

(seriously, i looked @ my posts over the last few days - undercurrent show, seeing deebo, and my podcast, and then compared them to what my brother is posting on his blog- attrocities taking place in zimbabwe right now. i feel like a heel.)

Going soft? No way, Ed.

I was trying to point out that people worldwide seem to be suffering in their own way (including Americans, who may be relatively wealthy, but who are starting to feel the pinch a bit).

Mariah and Nick, however, seem to think that now is as good a time as any to flaunt their ridiculous wealth by throwing away thousands of dollars on expensive rides and theme parks. Shame on them.
