arrow A Fresno First in the making: Creative Fresno Blender tonight

I'm all about Fresno Firsts right now. After a weekend full of Fresno Firsts that inspired my column and a Beehive post, I'm ready to tackle another tonight.

As it works out, it's also an event that I think is worth some Beehive pre-hype -- especially for the young creative folks interested in Fresno.

It's Creative Fresno's monthly blender, which is happening at Aqua Shi, from 5 to 8 p.m. So if you're looking a happy hour destination ...

The Creative Blender is something I've always meant to attend (for real: go read this). Every month, I'm thisclose to going. No excuses today. I'm there. If you see me, say hi and maybe I'll put you on the society page.

Shout-out to Kristy Page for the Fresno Firsts idea and vernacular. If you have a cool Fresno Firsts experience that you think is worth publishing on The Beehive, send it to mosegueda@fresnobee.com.

I happened on the new Blaze 105.1 classic rock station the other evening. So far so good it has been a welcomed change. What I would like to see though is more of a 60's to 80's good solid rock n roll while also having the obscure ones people have not heard in a while. Too many new stations start off with the classics that everyone knows, which are different from all the other station's standards and then that is all you hear. It would be nice to keep the radio listener guessing what is going to be next. There are soo many bands from the eras mentioned earlier that have much to offer. Take Captain Beyond and Armageddon for example, very good bands, but no one knows about them. And what about Grand Funk Railroad, they have more than just the American Band song. How about some Jeff Beck, Truth album. Many people doesn't know that Rod Stewart once rocked hard in that group. Better than Led Zeppelin. My point is just that there needs to be a mix of the tried and true ones along with others that have not been played in many a year.
