Relive the John West show with The Beehive
UPDATE: I added some additional videos from the show after the jump -- some behind-the-scenes stuff and a shout-out to fresnobeehive.com. You'll also find a couple of community videos and some pictures from the show.
Original post: Many thanks to all who came out Friday night to see John West at Palomino's -- the patio was packed. It was a great crowd and a great show. Below you'll find one of our videos from the show. If you've got some footage to share, upload it at videos.fresnobee.com and I'll add it to this post. If you put it up on YouTube, that's cool too -- just drop a link in the comments. Those of you who had cameras flashing all night, head over to CentralValley.com and share your photos.
Behind the Scenes stuff: Soundcheck and some after-show fun.
John West's shout-out to FresnoBeehive.com.
Thanks to Evan for this one of West's cover of "Umbrella" ...
Here's another I found on YouTube, with someone singing along. Don't say I didn't warn you ...
Here are some pictures. Thanks to Candice for some of these, especially this really excellent first one.

That was a very nice evening. Good music, good people, good vibe.
It was great to see Mrs. Oz and Heather too.
Thanks for putting that together.
If anyone has photos of the Tower lit up above John's head, please post it. That was an unplanned really cool look.

It was great to see you, too, Geanie!
I would love to see a shot of John with the Tower Theatre in the background, too. What an unexpected and awesome bonus that was. I desperately tried to get a picture of it and failed.

Thanks Heather!
I tried to take the photo with my cell phone and it was just a cool looking blur ha.
How was hanging out with Mr. West? He was so nice and laid back.

Geanie,
Both John and Marcus were incredibly kind and very laidback. After Palomino's cleared out, and there were only a few patrons left on the back porch, they went back up on stage and messed around a bit, jamming together.
We took them to Club Fred and Starline Grill and they were super cool - randomly talking to people and just hanging out. When they left, I tried to politely shake hands with Marcus (I'm not really a hugger) and John grabbed us both for big group hug.
P.S. I love the picture with the Tower Theatre in the background!

Hey everyone. I randomly came across his myspace a little over a year ago and have been hooked ever since. I know he came for Fresno a month or so ago and played at one of the lounges and I was bummed out when I found out you have to be 18 to get in (only a few months short to make it worse).
Anyway, I saw on his myspace a few weeks ago that he was going to be on Great Day and I was thrilled! I recorded it and everything! :) Around 6 I went on his myspace and saw he was playing at Palomino's and that was it...I HAD TO GO! I got ready, dragged my bestfriend and drove the 45 minute drive to Fresno. Even though I knew it was going to be amazing, it turned out to be everything and more!
So big thanks to Heather and Mike for arranging the show. It was unforgettable and I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my Friday night! Hopefully he will come back soon...if not then I guess i'll just go to him! :)

The concert was super chill and it's something we need more of here in our valley. Thanks for making it happen!
I don't have anything crazy to say... It was really good to see people genuinely enjoying themselves.

Hey Mr. Incognito, I thought I saw you there. But as usual, you were - wait for it - incognito.

Heather,
I thought I was in Pirates of the Caribbean for a moment, wait for it... nice play on words my friend! You know I know you know who I am (lol). Anyway, the show was really cool, the weather was perfect, and the backdrop was PIMP.
These are the types of venues we need to keep promoting here in the Valley. One can only venture uptown to chill so many times; I think Riverpark, at least to me, has lost its appeal by being too, wait for it - "Flashin' Lights" - Kanye
The "Tower" ALWAYS has something jumpin' off and the people down there aren't concerned with the fact you aren't driving a BMW or Rangie, ya feel me! If we want downtown to pick up and start having more of an appeal, keep promoting artists like John West.
Oh by the way, I told Oz about this but you might want to check out The Inner Ear Poetry Group on May 15th @ 7:30pm (Full Circle Brewery on Ventura and F St.). I heard this event is supposed to be the next big thing in May.
"Movin' through places
Meeting new faces
But all the while remaining
Incognito"...
( 1 ) Love
