arrow Are you just as "Lost"?

The mystery of the Oceanic Six seems to be getting clearer on “Lost.” Or is it?
For those of you who don’t watch the ABC drama, survivors of a plane crash have been on a mysterious island for 100 days. Since the end of last season, there have been flash forwards to show that a group known as the Oceanic Six were rescued.

It is clear that the six include Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Sun (Yunjin Kim) and Sayid (Naveen Andrews). Here’s the big question. Has the sixth member of the group been revealed or not.

Please don’t continue to read if you are behind in watching the series. There will be spoilers.

There are at least five people who could be the last member of the Oceanic Six. The episode that wrapped up Kate’s story after her rescue revealed that she has a baby. The baby has the same name as the child Claire (Emilie de Ravin) gave birth to on the island. So depending on how far forward the show leaped in time this could be Claire’s baby or Kate had her own child. Kate was not supposed to be able to have a child but that island did strange things to people. So the baby could be the sixth person.

The most recent episode shows that Sayid has already gotten off the island and he is with two others. Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) traveled to a small freighter with Sayid. And now we know that Michael (Harold Perrineau) is still alive. He and his son left the island early in the series. So Desmond or Walt could be the other Oceanic Six member.

And of course, it was revealed that Ben (Michael Emerson) got off the island. He and Sayid are working together in the future. Ben, like Desmond, was not on the flight. But, both could have lied.

Finally, there was the funeral Jack attended at the end of last season. It was not made clear if this was someone from the island or not. It could be an ill-fated member of the Oceanic Six.

There is nothing to say the sixth identity has yet to be revealed. That’s what keeps viewers coming back to “Lost.”

Comments:

Jin could be the sixth off the island---but it looks like he died.
The big question remains: Is Ben the big-bad guy or is it this James Whitemore?
But the fun part is this series always keeps you "lost" in possibilities.

I don't think the 6th person has been revealed yet. I don't think it's Aaron, because the world doesn't recognize him as Claire's baby - only as Kate's (meaning he wouldn't have been on the flight). Therefore, I doubt that he'd be dubbed part of the "Oceanic Six" (even if technically he would be the 7th person to escape the island.

Desmond doesn't count, and neither does Ben because they weren't on Oceanic flight 815.

I'm wondering what was up with Jin's tombstone. Is he really buried under there? Did he die on the island and Sun is just memorializing him or did he come back and then die? Or did Sun have to leave him behind and is just presuming he's dead?

P.S. Boo "Lost" producers for putting Harold Perrineau's name in the credits all season long. Way to ruin what could have been a less-obvious reveal.

well, it could be aaron, because claire was pregnant, so technically he was a passenger, although he wouldn't have been listed on the flight manifest. this line of thinking may be strengthened by the way they've been billing each week, and last night they had been talking 6th and final member of oceanic 6.

the panda was for the chinese premier's (? or was it ambassador) child that was being born. not his. he told the nurse, on the way out, after viewing the woman, that wasn't sun, that he had only been married 2 months. so, jin giving the panda should been thought of as a flashback to when he was a newlywed, not post-island. did you see the size of the cellphone he was using?

or, those zany writers have us all discombobulated.

Bethany - in Jin's case, it was a flashback. He told the nurse at the hospital he had only been married 2 months.

I'm so glad I didn't recognize the name of the actor who played Michael. It was a great reveal!

I agree that Aaron isn't one of the 6. I think it's the person who's funeral Jack attended. It was someone who wasn't liked since nobody else attended the funeral. Could it possibly be Locke? That would be a twist.

Has it been established that the plane isn't the result of a time shift, or could Whitemore and the ship's captain be wrong about the plane set-up.

I'm so enjoying this season!

The producers have stated that Aaron is NOT one of the Oceanic Six. So I believe the sixth member has yet to be revealed.

Bethany - It may not have been obvious until the end, but Jin was clearly in the past. It was a flashforward (with Sun) and a flashback (with Jin) mixed together. Somewhat lazy and uncreative of the writers, but still. There are several clues to this: year of the dragon (2000), Jin's very out-of-date cell phone, he states he's been married for only 2 months, etc.

Presumably Jin dies on the island because his tombstone reads "September 21 2004," the date the plane crashed. Part of the Oceanic Six's cover story. Either that, or he's alive back on the island and they're no body under that tombstone. But why would Sun have been that upset? He's likely dead.

Brad Ausiello at tvguide.com says of the 6:
