arrow Chris Carter reveals secrets of "X-Files" movie - (not really)

One of the biggest receptions at this year’s WonderCon in San Francisco over the weekend was for the cast and crew of the new “X-Files” movie. It has been five years since David Duchovny and Gilliam Anderson played the sexually-charged government agents who chased more supernatural creatures than the Scooby Squad.

Chris Carter, creator of the TV series, joined the film’s stars to talk before a packed house of rabid fans about the new movie that is scheduled to hit theaters in July. Well, when I say he “talked about” the movie, you have to remember that Carter sees more conspiracies than Agent Mulder. It is actually surprising that he would even admit the movie is being made.

After his time with the fans, Carter sat down to talk, in only the way Carter can talk, about the latest offering in the franchise.

Question: How far along are you in the filming process?
Chris Carter: We are about two-thirds done with the shooting.

Q: Where are you shooting?
CC: I can’t tell you that.

Q: It is in a place where it is cold?
CC: Yes.

CC: You told the fans that we will see agents Mulder and Scully in a new way. What did you mean?
CC: I can’t tell you.

Q: Will we see more of the sexual tension between Mulder and Scully?
CC: You don’t want to know that.

Q: Yes I do.
CC: I just can’t tell you.

Q: Amanda Peet is in the cast. Is she an agent?
CC: Yes.

Q: What you tell me about her?
CC: Nothing.

Q: How about her character’s name?
CC: (Carter pauses for several seconds) No.

Q: Will any of the “X-Files” supporting players be in the movie?
CC: Can’t tell you.

Q: Is this a stand alone story or will it be involved with the “X-Files” mythology?
CC: It is a stand alone story.

So to recap there will be a new “X-Files” movie this summer which may or may not feature romance between Mulder and Scully, have familiar supporting players, be set on Earth or a spaceship. Glad Carter to clear that up.

Though I'm excited about the new movie, I'm disappointed it's not going to have anything to do with the "mythology". What happens when the aliens invade the Earth!? Inquiring minds want to know!

This is one of the many reasons why there is no fandom greater than the X-Files. You gotta love the anticipation.

This is probably the funniest interview, I've ever read.

He didn't even want to give away Peet's character's name, even though he said that it was Dakota Whitney at the Panel just minutes before.
