arrow Sing along with Bob

Poor Bob Waterston can't make up his mind.
One day he's saying he won't run for re-election to his Fresno County Board of Supervisors' seat. A few months later, he's running down to the elections office and pulling papers.

To celebrate Waterston's possible attempt to retain his seat, I dug up the lyrics to Frank Sinatra's "That's Life" and tinkered a bit.

Plug in the karaoke machine, and have fun.

That's Bob,
That's what all the people say,
Digging pools in April, voting on buddies' deals in May,
But I know Bob's gonna change that tune,
When he's back on top, back on top in June.

Bob says that's life, and as funny as it may seem,
Some people get their kicks,
Stompin' on his dream,
But he don't let it, let it get him down,
'Cause his fine ol' political world, it's spinning 'round.

He's been a puppet, a builder, a fireman,
a pawn . . . and a king,
He's been up and down and over and out,
And I know one thing:
Each time he finds himself, flat on his face,
He picks himself up and gets back in the race.

That's Bob,
I tell ya, I can't deny it,
Bob thought of quitting, baby,
But his heart just wouldn't buy it,
And if he didn't think it was worth one single try,
He'd jump right on a big bird and then he'd fly.

He's been a puppet, a builder, a fireman,
a pawn . . . and a king,
He's been up and down and over and out,
And I know one thing:
Each time he finds himself, flat on his face,
He picks himself up and gets back in the race.

That's Bob,
That's Bob and I can't deny it,
Many times he thought of cutting out,
But his heart won't buy it,
But if there's nothing shakin' come this here June,
He's gonna roll himself up in a big ball and swoon.

My! My!
