The thing that sticks out to me in all this is the amount of bitterness there seems to be toward these kids (or kids in general). Like hatred almost. So quick to think the worst.

Maybe Riverpark ain't your scene (be it the kids or crowds, or overpriced crap) but there is a liveliness there that doesn't exist anyplace else in town. And a lot of that is because of these kids.

Mike I just wanted to say that was a damn good article. I was kinda on the fence with the whole thing, but now I'm against the curfew. When I go to The Park I don't go anywhere the kids hang out anyways. Yeah going from Borders to Edwards is a pain, but still. If they do get banned I hope Fashion Fair welcomes them with open arms. And registers.

To make it fair for everyone, I think the old people can have the riverpark from 5am(the butt crack of dawn) until 3pm(allowing them enough time to head out to the dinner buffet at the golden corral). Let the kids have it from 3pm(since most teenagers get up around 12-1 and need about 2 hours of prep time to look fashionable) until 12am(allowing them enough time to go home and message their 500 myspace friends before they go to bed at 4am).

I just wanted to add to my comment. I think the kids should be welcomed at 330pm, giving the old people a chance to leave. Imagine the elderly leaving while the teenagers are entering. Total chaos, they both don't know how to drive.

Good Lord, people, there is a generation between kids and "old folks." That being said, point taken: I don't want to be lumped into a bag of apples anymore than the under-18 among us want to be. Let freedom ring.

I avoid RiverPark because of difficulty finding parking, not the giggly teens who don't affect my enjoyment of a Martini at Fuzio's or Walnut Shrimp at Dai Bai Dang. My son, now 22, spent many weekend nights at RiverPark as a teen, with my encouragement (and shuttle service).

The good news is the under 18 crowd can shop during the day, and as we have all experienced, those kids will soon grow up and go anywhere they like.

It's not just "old people" that don't like how ghetto and run down the teenage loitering, smoking, spitting, loud obnoxious behavior and overcrowding so they can have somewhere to hang out have made riverpark.
I'm a mom in her 30's with kids I allow to "hang out" at Riverpark but I've cut back on allowing that in recent years as i myself have come to hate riverpark because of all the teenagers and friends of mine who do business at riverpark have commented how much business drops off on weekends because the teenagers drive business away.

I think this new curfew is way out of line. I think the people have forgotten what is like to be a teen. The teens are the ones that do most of the shopping in that area. The people that have a problem with it need to shop somewhere else. I have been there when all the teens are there they are just having a good time with their friends. This is from a mom that actually has a teen that likes to hang out there.

The curfew thing is fine. I think it is just to early 8 or 9 would be fine. If the older folks dont like the kids then why'd they have kids in the first place.
