On the final night of preliminary competition:

Melissa Chaty, Miss North Coast, wins the talent competition, singing in French "The Jewel Song" from the opera, "Faust."

Amy Yetasook, Miss Southwest California, wins the evening wear competition.

Saturday's final appears to be a tight race between Chaty, Yetasook and Cheri Gorin, Miss Sierra Nevada. Each woman won talent and evening wear awards during this week's preliminary competitions.

I'll be blogging live Saturday night from the pageant. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the new Miss California will be crowned about 10 p.m.
