Miss California: Friday night talent
Lauren Howard's comedy sketch during tonight's talent competition at the Miss California Pageant had the crowd hooting and hollering in appreciation.
Howard, Miss Placentia, impersonated "SNL" character Mary Katherine Gallagher auditioning for "American Idol."
The applause went on so long that emcee Jacquelynne Fontaine, Miss California 2006, had to wait to introduce the next contestant.
Miss Beach Cities Brieanna Harvey also did her part for comedy relief.
Her talent routine was a parody. She used different accents to portray air-head contestant, tough-girl contestant and a few others. Fontaine said Harvey was trying to dispel common misconceptions about pageants.
It was fresh and daring.
Will the judges reward originality and comedy? I'll be back later tonight with the results.

Comments:
Harvey was great! It's too bad that they cut her off before the punch line. Though the judges said they loved it and had enough time to give her an adequate score, the audience missed the best part!
