Mike Oz Fresno Firsts
In my column today, I took readers into Kristy Page's world of Fresno Firsts. Last summer, she and a friend started, about once a week, trying to experience new things in Fresno. Going to a certain dining spot, trying a new activity or hitting a different destination.
It got me thinking about things that I'd never done that I want to do and things that I've done that other people should do. I'm sure if we used our collective wisdom, we could come up with a cool list of Fresno Firsts that people could use to begin their own journeys.
I'll start:
-- Drive around on a spring Saturday and sample strawberries from the different stands.
-- Get a sandwich at Deli Delicious.
-- Go to the graffiti murals at Calwa Park.
-- Go to a concert at Arte Americas.
-- Attend a Creative Fresno blender.
Add on.

Visit the Underground Gardens. I've lived here since 1978 and I've still never done that, and people in Ohio told me about the gardens before we even moved out here!

I've always wanted to eat at that Richard's steak place that I see from the 180 freeway. And go to Meatball Magic.

I so want to be a part of Fresno Firsts, we should follow in Kristy's footsteps and check out a new place every month at least. What do you say Mike? Believe me when I say ive got my list of venues, restaurants and activities I would love to check out; Roger Rocka's for one.
You've got to check out the Civil War Reenactment at Kearney Park, look out for it; I beleive its going to be in late October.

Get a taste for the big city by hanging out at Veni Vidi Vici on Sunday afternoons, 1-5pm for Antidote.
No one should have to chase away their hangover alone.

Thanks, Kristy. I've always wanted to try oysters (never had 'em). I'm not really sure where Meatball Magic is. I'm hoping someone will take me to it.

Went to Coney Island Hotdogs over on Tulare St. Not bad, defintely has that old time feel. Then again why wouldn't it, it's been there forever.

Erin D and I joined up with my family at the Friday Night Plaza Movies a few weeks back. Erin even pointed out we were doing a "first". It was nice. Not crowded, nice breeze and my sister makes fried chicken that is da' bomb!
