Heather Paris Hilton unable to turn a blind, wonky eye to justice
Paris Hilton has been sentenced to 45 days in the Los Angeles County Jail for violating the terms of her probation stemming from a DUI she received in September.
If you'll recall, Hilton was busted in February after cops found her driving Sunset Blvd. without her lights on. Paris claimed that she had no idea her license was suspended, but the city attorney countered this claim, saying there was "sufficient evidence" proving otherwise.
Apparently so. Hilton will go to jail June 5 and will be allowed "no work release, no furloughs, no use of an alternative jail and no electronic monitoring in lieu of jail."
This is one of the more fascinating things I've seen in the celebrity world lately. It's no secret Paris has been getting away with some pretty ridiculous above-the-law behavior for some time, but it's still a shock that she will actually have to pay the consequences for her lifestyle. I wonder if her friends will desert her like they've deserted former Paris buddy and "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis, who is currently serving time in Florida.
Then again, knowing Paris, she'll be able to parlay this into yet another reality show and even more money, with more hangers-on and wannabes following her every move.
Okay, I'm trying to be professional here (*cough*), but I just can't help it. Is anybody else out there just snickering with glee over this? This is the schadenfreude pot of gold, and I can only imagine how many millions of people out in the real world are laughing their asses off, happy that, for once, the universe is as it should be, and life is fine.
Happy Friday, everyone.

Comments:
Stop picking on Paris. This is just like poor Martha Stewart, who was imprisoned for what everyone else has done. If they weren't rich and famous, they'd never be put in the slammer. This is reverse discrimination because we envy their money and fame. What has Paris done to anybody except give us a few yucks? Free Paris Hilton! Everybody say it now. You know you want to.

I would LOVE to understand the level of entitlement this girl and her parents have. Why does she think she's above the law and why does her mother think that her daughter's been singled out?
Here's the deal. If you drink and drive, you're an idiot with no respect for either yourself or anyone who has the misfortune to be in your path.
If you drink and drive and are caught and your license is suspended and then you're caught driving again, you're still an idiot and now you're an idiot with a criminal record.
No, it doesn't matter that your daddy is rich.
Suck it up, Paris. Not like you don't have the cash to get a cab or call your chauffeur. Of all people, this one has NO excuse to be driving drunk or while suspended.
I hope she likes shapeless orange.
