Your Rogue Festival Preparation Kit
The Rogue Festival began yesterday, with a series of samplers that coupled with different ArtHop stops. There was a bigger party at Full Circle Brewing Co., where Rogue acts took the stage for 15 minutes at a time, previewing their shows.
The place was packed and there was a certain excitement in the air. You could feel the artistic spirit buzzing around. The Tower District will have that same aura this weekend, for sure. A few of this year's Rogue stars -- Baba Brinkman (The Rap Canterbury Tales) and Barry Smith (Jesus in Montana) -- were in attendance, as were local acts like Cosmic Hayride, Liesl Garner and Jose DeLoza.
Everything really gets going today, though. At 6:15 p.m., the first shows begin and they'll run steadily until 11:30 p.m. tonight. On Saturday and Sunday the Rogue gets going at 11:30 a.m., with at least 50 shows going on each day. Check out the online schedule or hit the Tower and pick up a Rogue Map, which is the bible to navigating the festival.

My dearest Mike:
Thank you so much for the invitation to the Rogue fest. I am not not sure, however, that I need a tattoo, an encounter with a panhandler, legitimately disenfranchised or not, or want to end my travels in a fine city hospital. We enjoy a nice environment here in north Fresno. Come on up, and I'll show you around. I know you say you can never find a place to park. So, maybe take a bus. You can borrow one of my cars when you get here. At the gate, ring the housekeeper for the code. For music, we can catch some migrating herons leaving the lake. For the visual arts, hit the new Marble Slab Creamery (Cheesecake Factory somewhat limited in its color offerings) and get something gloppy. For theater, though, we'll make a beeline to the department stores.
Very truly yours,
Cee Pee
