arrow Wii got you down? Or in a hospital?

wii.jpgWhen I first saw somebody playing the Wii, I thought to myself: "If I wanted to exert this much energy, I'd just actually go bowling." I guess some Wii players are thinking the same thing right now. Apparently, Nintendo's new gaming system is racking up the casualties just weeks after being released on the market.

Enough so for Nintendo to create an almost-hilarious Wii safety page. There are competing Wii-injury sites with Wii Damage and the cleverly titled Wii Have a Problem.

*** UPDATE: Nintendo sent users Click to view PDF an email this morning with an additional safety message regarding wearing the wrist strap when using the Wii remote. ***

Even CNBC did a report on the dangers of this new interactive gaming. But the commentators did make the point that this, at least, gets otherwise lazy gamers off the couch and into some exercise. Here's a video, via YouTube.

Here's another video, showing the aftermath of one player who ran his hand through a lightbulb.

For more Wii goodness, read Mike Oz's column from last week.

Anybody who has these types of the problems with the Wii, also shouldn't be allowed to use the following things, as they might injure themselves or someone they love.

- Kitchen utensils
- Scissors
- Automobiles
- Pencils

Seriously, people? How hard is it to hold something in your hand and move at the same time?
