Use the boxes below to look up Smog Check results for any California vehicle tested between 2004 and 2006 and compare it to similar vehicles.
Search using either a license plate number or a vehicle identification number (VIN). The search will return the hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions from the test results for the vehicle you enter. In addition, a chart will show the smog-test results for all vehicles of the same year, make and model.
The chart also will point out so-called gross polluters -- vehicles that pump out at least twice the allowable pollution. Such vehicles make up fewer than one in 10 in California, yet they account for three-fourths of excess emissions.
In some cases, a license plate can be moved from one vehicle to another. To ensure accuracy, it's better to use the VIN. You can usually find the VIN on the vehicle registration or on a plate on the driver\'s side of the dashboard, visible through the windshield.
Some license plate numbers contain a space. In that case, try searching both with and without the space.
